At 219.5 lbs, Tyson was six pounds heavier than in his previous bout less than a month prior and was 23.5 lbs. heavier than Johnson.

A left hook to the body sent Johnson down 23 seconds into the fight. He was up at the count of three. Tyson came forward and threw a big right hand that caught Johnson flush on the jaw and sent him immediately down. Without beginning a count, the referee waved an end to the bout. Johnson remained down in the ring momentarily before being helped to a stool.
