Despite the quality of opponent for Tyson, this bout was a huge success in England where a capacity crowd came to watch the fight. Frank Warren promoted the fight and attempted to entice Tyson into signing a promotional contract with him, even going as far as buying him a watch worth several hundred thousand pounds before the fight, while they were shopping in London.
